MY POEMS

Exciting News.

Spontaneity have gone live on the fifth issue of their online magazine which features my poem Relationship.

Take a look through their entire site, it is a maze of creativity and a true delight to be part of.

The premise behind Spontaneity is that each piece that is included is influenced by a previous piece of artwork or poetry, and so you can link back and see the creative developments taken by each of the contributors.  I look forward to seeing more exciting work displayed here in the future.

I am so pleased to be caught on camera at the Black Light Engine Room poetry night.

Issue 10 of the magazine will be available soon for you to read the poems I performed, and I will keep you updated on the when the next night will be as soon as I hear.

My new poem Watching the Dimple in her Cheek Fall Out has been accepted for an anthology for cancer patients, survivors, family and friends.  I am very pleased to be able to help support these people as my Nan has had an operation this year to remove a cancerous lump in her leg.  She is recovering better than any of us expected and impresses the doctors with how well she has managed to build up the muscle back into her leg every time she goes for a check up.

I hope that the people that will read this anthology are all as lucky as we have been, and that they have the great health staff that we have had looking after my Nan.

Submissions are still open if you would like to contribute to this amazing cause.

So this is going to be a busy week for poetry.  At the beginning of this year I was asked by my former tutors to take part in the Intercity Flow project, a collaboration of poets from around the world coming together to write poetry, help young writers, collaborate, network, and perform together.  As part of this I will be performing at Tuned In in Redcar on Wednesday.  This event is free to under 19's and there are drinks available to purchase on the night.  Find the information on the event page on Facebook here.

If you are interested in my writing process, or that of any of the poets performing at the Intercity Flow event on Wednesday, come along on Thursday to:

Writing For Page and Stage
As part of the Intercity Flow Project we will be holding a Literary Symposium on Thurs 26th February 6.00 - 7.30pm in Lecture Theatre - HS2.12 (Centuria Building) Teesside University. FREE.

Kayo Chingonyi, Shona Anderson, Carmen Thompson, Lauren Dye, Dizzylez and Mosatch will discuss and take questions on their approaches to writing, and the differences involved in developing work for print and performance.

Are you free on December 6th?  If so come along to the Westgarth on Southfield Road in Middlesbrough to hear me read some poems.  This night is ran by The Black Light Engline Room.  There are open mic places available, just put your name down on the door when you arrive.

It will be a great night to start of the holiday period.

This weekend I have been attending the T-Junction Poetry Festival in Middlesbrough.  As part of the festival I joined in with some of the poetry performances.  Following this I have been asked to perform on a talent slot at the next Electric Kool Aid Cabaret at Tuned in Redcar.  The event is scheduled for November 19th and I am very excited to be given the opportunity to take part.
